Salary: £27,500 – £30,000 DOE

Hours: 8:30 am – 5 pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am – 4 pm Friday

Ocean Import Operator Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of a homeware textiles company based in Manchester who are seeking a skilled Ocean Import Operator to join their team. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge in ocean, freight forwarding, import operations, and customs clearances. This position will involve overseeing the import process and ensuring a smooth and efficient movement of goods. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to progress in ocean import and freight forwarding.

Ocean Import Operator Responsibilities

• Manage the import process for ocean shipments from origin through to delivery
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to ensure efficient clearance of goods.
• Handle all necessary documentation, including customs clearances and import permits.
• Communicate with internal teams and external partners to provide updates on shipment status.
• Resolve any issues or delays related to imports and work to prevent future challenges.
• Provide customer service by addressing inquiries and providing support throughout the import process.
• Controlling FOB imports from multiple origins.
• Controlling customs compliance and customs entry submissions
• Controlling exports to multiple destinations including the EU, US & ROW (DDP, DAP, FCA, EXW) via road freight, air freight, LCL, & courier.

Experience to require

• Proven experience in ocean freight forwarding and import operations.
• Strong understanding of customs regulations and import compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in relevant software and systems used for import operations.
