Quality Engineer
Quality Engineer required to join a fast growing company in Droitwich. The company design and manufacture bespoke engineered-to-order modular plant solutions. The solutions include fabrication, assembly, heavy industrial engineering, electromechanical systems, pressurised pipework, welding.
Salary £50K-£55K, 25 days holiday
The role:
- Oversee and coordinate incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities
- Dimensional checks against GA/isometrics, bolt torque, gasket type, flow direction
- Oversee NDT coordination
- Ensure builds conform to specifications, P&IDs, isometrics, and applicable codes
- Create/own ITPs, quality plans, inspection checklists, and weld maps; manage NCRs, concessions, and corrective actions.
- Produce data books/turnover dossiers: MTCs, WPS/PQR/WPQR, welder logs, NDT & pressure test records, electrical test certs, FAT/SAT reports.
- Lead the NCR Management System (5 Whys, Ishikawa) with measurable effectiveness checks in place
- Ensure that all SPC defects /first-pass yield/defect Pareto to target chronic issues
- Coach welders/fitters/assembly techs on inspection criteria, test methods.
- Predominantly based at the Droitwich site, however, will require some travel for inspections at Supplier sites.
38 hours pw. Monday to Friday, early finish Friday
Requirements
- Experienced Quality Engineer with;
- Solid, hands-on experience in mechanical/electromechanical fabrication or modular plant construction.
- Can read/interpret P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings, electrical schematics, and data sheets.
- Competent with precision measurement, pressure testing rigs, torquing methods, and basic electrical test equipment.
- Familiar with welding quality (WPS/PQR/WPQR), material traceability, and typical NDT methods.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS and project documentation controls
- Strong communicator who’s comfortable on the shop floor and with clients/inspectors.
