Transport Planner

Location: Purfleet, Essex
Salary: Up to £30,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

A growing global logistics company is looking for a Transport Planner to join its team in Purfleet.

The Role

As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating daily transport movements and ensuring deliveries and collections are planned efficiently.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Planning daily vehicle movements, collections and deliveries

• Allocating work to drivers and subcontractors

• Monitoring vehicle movements throughout the day

• Liaising with drivers, customers, depots and internal departments

• Ensuring transport schedules are completed efficiently

• Responding to customer queries and providing delivery updates

• Managing changes to routes and schedules

• Resolving delays, missed collections and delivery issues

• Updating transport management systems accurately

• Preparing and checking transport documentation

• Ensuring drivers have the correct instructions and paperwork

• Supporting compliance with driver hours and transport regulations

• Maintaining accurate records of transport activity

• Building strong working relationships with customers and suppliers

• Supporting the wider transport team when required

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience within transport, logistics, freight or distribution

• Experience planning vehicle movements would be beneficial

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• The ability to work in a busy and time-sensitive environment

• Good attention to detail

• Confidence speaking with drivers, customers and suppliers

• Strong problem-solving skills

• The ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities

• Good computer skills

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
