CNC EDM Machinist

Role: CNC EDM Machinist

Location: Farlington
Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week
Overtime: Available at time and a half

My client is recruiting for an experienced CNC EDM Machinist to join their busy engineering and manufacturing business.

This is a varied, hands-on machining role that would suit an experienced CNC Machinist, Toolmaker or EDM Machinist with a strong background in precision engineering.

The key requirement is hands on experience with both Wire EDM and Die Sink/Spark EDM, alongside a broader CNC machining background.

Responsibilities:

• Setting, programming and operating Wire EDM and Die Sink/Spark EDM machines
• Setting and operating CNC/semi-CNC machinery
• Producing one-off and precision components and tooling
• Programming directly at the machine
• Working from detailed engineering drawings
• Carrying out your own inspection and quality checks
• Reverse engineering components and tooling where required
• Using mathematics, geometry and trigonometry to calculate dimensions and machining requirements
• Monitoring machine condition and carrying out basic maintenance and troubleshooting
• Managing your own workload and taking jobs through from setup to completion

Skills and experience:

Essential:

• Previous hands-on experience with Wire EDM
• Previous hands-on experience with Die Sink/Spark EDM
• CNC machining experience
• Ability to set, programme and operate machinery
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Ability to carry out own inspection and quality checks
• Good mathematical and geometric understanding
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload

Desirable:

• Toolmaking and hand-fitting experience
• Surface or cylindrical grinding experience
• CNC/semi-CNC turning experience
• Experience with XYZ Proturn or similar machinery
• Reverse engineering experience
• Experience working with precision tooling or one-off components
