Freight Project Coordinator

Freight Project Coordinator – Dartford

The Freight Project Coordinator is responsible for the full operational and logistical management of multimodal, road, sea, and air freight consignments, in line with the group strategy. Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the role covers the entire cargo life cycle, from shipment planning to execution, loadout attendance (when required), and timely billing and reporting. The role involves providing competitive solutions to customers and overseas offices, ensuring adherence to QHSE and compliance policies, and delivering high levels of customer service while addressing queries professionally and positively.

Job type: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30am to 17:00pm or 09:00am to 17:30pm

Responsibilities:

  • Provide competitive solutions to the vertical market and overseas offices, ensuring intelligent buying and responding to RFQs.
  • General forwarding for allocated Key Accounts.
  • Booking shipments with carriers including airlines, shipping lines, and hauliers.
  • Processing shipping documentation such as MAWB, HAWB, Bill of Lading, CMR, and Standard Shipping Notes.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of HM Revenue & Customs regulations.
  • Adhere to destination-specific documentation requirements.
  • Prioritize tasks and workload effectively, resolving day-to-day issues with clients and vendors, including NCRs.
  • Feedback operational matters and opportunities to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure Dangerous Goods procedures are followed for successful export in accordance with regulations.

Requirements – Essential:

  • 5+ years of experience in freight forwarding and project logistics, including out-of-gauge shipments.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience with CargoWise is beneficial.
  • High attention to detail and strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Export Regimes and Customs Tariff.
  • Familiarity with Lloyd’s Loading List, OAG Flight Guide, and Croner’s Export Guide.
  • Market knowledge (including customers, competitors, suppliers, and overall environment).
  • Professionalism in customer interactions, understanding customer requirements, and resolving issues or complaints.
  • Current unrestricted driver’s license.
  • Dangerous Goods training (Air/Sea).
