Ocean Freight Operator – Redditch
£30,000 – £36,000 | Mon-Fri, 08:00-17:00 | Clear progression to multimodal
We’re working with a well-established and growing UK freight forwarder in Redditch, looking to add an experienced Ocean Freight Operator to their team.
This is a true end-to-end role, ideal for someone who enjoys ownership of shipments and wants to broaden their skillset into air and road freight (full training provided).
The Opportunity
- Manage start-to-finish sea freight imports & exports
- Handle customs clearance and all related documentation
- Liaise with customers, overseas agents, carriers, and suppliers
- Arrange final delivery and UK transport
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues efficiently
- Complete job costing and invoicing accurately
- Gain exposure to air & road freight as part of a multimodal function
- Build relationships through proactive, consultative customer contact
What They’re Looking For
- Minimum 2+ years’ sea freight experience (import/export)
- Strong understanding of freight forwarding processes
- Experience with customs clearance
- Confident managing shipments end-to-end
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Customer-focused with good communication skills
- Air or road freight knowledge is a bonus (not essential)
