Freight Procurement Executive

Position: Freight Procurement Executive

Location: West Thurrock, Essex

Salary: £27,000 – £30,000

Hours – Mon – Fri 8:30am – 17:00pm – (1 day working from home)

Our clients are a leading freight forwarding and international logistics group that specialise in global shipments of beverages (Beers, Wines, and Spirits)

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced freight professional to join their commercial department dealing with freight procurement in West Thurrock.

This role would suit any operational, or sales, freight professionals who deal with road, or sea freight shipments.

Procurement Executive Role Overview:

• Be a business partner for sales and operations within the procurement / commercial function.
• Source /appoint/manage and measure suppliers in line with agreed service levels (SLA’s) and business requirements.
• Provide ad hoc pricing as required to the sales department and overseas offices and update internal systems accordingly
• Deliver value by deploying best practice / best value carriers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Run annual and ad hoc tenders as required
• Ensure utilisation of appointed carriers by operations
• Supplier Relationship Management – utilising and updating an SRM template
• Carrier appointment
• Oversee supplier performance through Service Levels, creation/maintenance, along with specific Key Performance Indicators
• Promote efficiency and profitability by encouraging and facilitating a climate of best practice and quality throughout the supplier base /departments.
• Develop and maintain standard tariffs for all traffic types (as required)
• Organise and attend Regular carrier meetings in line with the SRM
• Actively promote and maintain Group culture, style and standards within the company
