Warehouse Operative Overview

My client is seeking a motivated and reliable Warehouse Operative to join their expanding warehouse operations team based in Morley. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient handling, storage, and distribution of goods, supporting both domestic and international logistics operations.

This position involves loading and unloading vehicles, stock control, inventory management, and general warehouse duties while maintaining the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and housekeeping.

Warehouse Operative Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload domestic and international vehicles within agreed timescales.
• Check, complete, and maintain all relevant warehouse and transport documentation.
• Receive incoming deliveries, verify quantities and condition of goods, and accurately record receipts.
• Store customer goods within designated warehouse locations, maximising available storage space.
• Carry out stock counts and inventory checks as required.
• Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders in line with business requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of all goods received, stored, and dispatched.
• Inspect cargo thoroughly for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
• Liaise with office staff to resolve shipment, stock, or delivery queries.
• Operate counterbalance and reach forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Undertake manual handling activities when required.
• Conduct routine safety checks on handling equipment, roller shutter doors, dock levellers, and other warehouse equipment.
• Communicate effectively with visiting drivers and subcontractors, providing operational and health & safety guidance.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse, office areas, yard, and car parks.
• Comply fully with company health and safety procedures.
• Support site fire safety procedures and complete fire safety checks when required.

Warehouse Operative Skills & Experience

• Previous experience working within a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
• Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of warehouse health and safety practices.

• Reach Truck licence.
• First Aid qualification or certification.
• Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS).
